The easiest way to do that is to learn to sell on eBay.  Auctions with photos do better than those without, so get a camera and get some well lit shots of your stuff to use in your listings.

Visit clickbank.com, choose a product to promote from the marketplace there.  Copy and paste your hoplink code to your computer in a text file or something similar, so you don’t lose it.

Join USFreeAds.com and write up a small advertisement for your product.  Use copy from the product’s own sales page.  Make a copy of the ad and save to your computer as well.  Post the same ad on Craigslist and other free classified ad boards.  Repeat your postings as often as the ad boards’ terms of service will allow.

Pick a topic that you could talk about forever.  You know, the thing you keep blabbing on and on about that your spouse doesn’t want to hear any more of.  Your hobby, your favorite vacation spot or activity.  Got a thing for ’38 Oldsmobiles?  Great.  Pick a topic and start writing all about it on your new blog.

Blogs can be monetized in dozens of ways but the most hands-off manner is to put some advertising on your site.  Google’s AdSense, Azoogle and Casale Media are but a few of them.

Other ways to ad value to your site is by offering merchandise.  Cafepress and Printfection will create merchandise from your designs and sell them for a profit.

One method that most non-bloggers are unaware of is the ‘sponsored post.’  This is when a company offers you money to write about their product or service.  There are enough companies offering this type of ‘writing for hire’ to ensure that you don’t have to take on any company or service you would feel uncomfortable reviewing.  The surprising thing is that the pay can get quite high for one posting, upwards of $200.  Your blog has to already be credible with a decent readership to attract that kind of money, but the money is out there.

There are, of course, the old fashioned, tried and true ways of generating income – affiliate marketing, list building and e-book selling.

You must pick the money maker that is right for you and promote your way to wealth.

Great idea, huh?  Everybody’s doing it.

In fact, you’re reading one right now set up by a guy on his laptop somewhere in the world.  There’s got to be something to this whole thing, right?

Problem is…you need specific information on how to set up a website.  If you don’t have it, you’re stuck.  If you don’t know what your site should be about, your stuck.

If you don’t know how to get traffic to your site, your stuck.  It’s not as simple as it initially sounds.

But here is the good part.

Once you know how and have done it once, you can do it over and over again.

It’s easy but it’s not simple.

It’s like driving a car – baffling and confusing the first time you get behind the wheel but with instruction and guidance, it becomes second nature after a while.

Website building can be like that.  But now there are a great number of tools to help you out.  You no longer need to know html, flash, java or any of those program languages.  Just get yourself a WordPress blog, host it yourself (WordPress will shut down an overly commercial blog if they are hosting it for you for free) and learn by doing.

There are some great resources on how to tweak the settings, pick a topic and make some money with a WordPress based website.

It’s quite easy for one person working nights and weekends and hours stolen away at your day job to set up a dozen or more websites or blogs which earn $5, $10, $50 or more per day each.

Once you’re up and running, your only job will be to drive traffic to your sites and create new ones.  More traffic means more income.  More sites mean more income.  Pretty soon the income from your sites will be enough to pay other people to develop your sites for you.  Outsourcing is a beautiful thing.

When you get to that point, your income can increase exponentially, because your income is creating more income.  That’s a moneymaking idea that works.

Just because you’ve left the workforce to be a stay at home mom doesn’t necessarily mean you can turn off that desire to bring in more income.  Your time and focus is now on your new baby but even with the constraints of taking care of the little one, there are still plenty of opportunities to make a few dollars at  home.  Try any or all of these to see which one fits your personality and lifestyle the best.

Selling on eBay is a great way to earn a few extra dollars.  It will take a short learning curve to get the hang of posting auctions, finding and prepping items for sale and concluding the first couple transactions.  Once you get the hang of it, you can scale up to posting a few auctions each and every day.  eBay is also a good place to unload any clothing or toys that your child has recently outgrown.

Writing for online article directories is a great way to pull in extra cash.  If you like to write and can create articles, you can submit them to Associated Content and get paid anywhere from $3 to $20 or more per article.  Be prepared for the payments to generally be on the low end of the scale.  AC is free to join and they even pay a little extra if your portfolio of articles generates a lot of viewers.  Some authors have thousands of articles and receive a check from AC each month.

The wide open field of internet marketing is quietly making some people full time salaries.  In a nutshell, you create an internet presence, like a website or a blog, and you either promote a product as an affiliate or you sell advertising on your site to individuals or networks (like Google’s AdWords – which is free to join, by the way).  The trick is not only putting the site together in the first place but in getting people to visit your site.

Google’s AdSense program is the other side of the AdWords coin.  You can earn a full time living by placing advertisements for products that you promote.  Be sure to start small, though.  You can get burned by a run-away ad campaign if you don’t have the proper controls in place.  If you’re good with numbers and spreadsheets, though, this should be right up your alley.

If you have the skills to go freelance in your chosen field, set up a profile at elance.com or guru.com and bid on jobs offered there.  Writing, copywriting, graphic design and web design are skills that will be in need no matter what the ‘economic climate’ is.

Money making ideas are not limited to what you can do online.  You could provide daycare or babysitting services for others in your area.  There are dozens of non-internet based home-based businesses like catering, interior decorating, direct sales and parties.  Accounting and tax prep, insurance and advertising sales are some of the more common ‘old school’ work at home jobs you can consider as well.

Writing articles: Articles are the back bone of the internet.  They are used as stand alone articles in directories for traffic generation and link building as well as content for websites, ebooks and almost everything you see or hear on the internet.

Writing ebooks: E-books are electronically delivered books, usually in pdf format that can be sell for upwards of $999 if the information is extremely specific and valuable.  Although most sell for between $7 and $97 with $47 being the center of that particular bell curve.  You can also use ebooks as a free giveaway to build a list you can email to over and over again.

Creating websites: Again, this is more about writing the content (articles!) for the website than the actual coding.  Although if you are good at coding, you should do fine (pitch your services at elance.com, guru.com and other job sites).  Using readily available free templates, you can create the content for a five to ten page website in about one day.  With a good domain name and topic that has a large enough audience, you can sell these to the highest bidder at sitepoint.com or hold onto them to make money for yourself.

If your site gets enough visitors a well place block of ads from Google’s AdWords program could generate up to a few thousand dollars per month if your topic gets enough traffic and the cost per click for the ads is high enough.

Affiliate marketing: Join a site like clickbank.com, pick a product and start promoting it.  You can create your one mini site or use any of the free blogging sites to promote your product.  Then, write and submit articles to promote your site.

I told you there was a lot of writing to be done.  But here’s one that’s not based on writing.

Photography: Take all the photos you want and submit them to sites like iStockphoto.com or iClipart.com.  You’ll get paid per download.  It’s not a lot of money per download but if you build a portfolio of hundreds or thousands of popular photographs, your monthly intake could get quite large.

There are the usual ‘get paid to’ programs, like taking surveys and reading emails, but even if they paid really well, most people tire of them quite quickly.  Feel free to give them a shot but after two or three surveys (ten to thirty minutes spent clicking on check boxes), you’ll see that your hourly rate will be dismal.

These aren’t old methods that used to work but viable business models which you can begin immediately.  But there is one thing that these methods don’t necessarily address.

Mindset and Focus.

You must treat this like a business in order for it to work.  No matter which money making path you go down, if you are serious about it, you can reap huge rewards.  Some marketers use phrases like ‘automatic income’ or ‘earn while you sleep.’  This can seem a bit misleading but the truth is that they have done a boatload of work on the front end to get to where they can make hundreds or thousands (or more) in one day.

After six or more months of work anyone can build a list of a few thousand people and then offer them something to buy. 2% of ten thousand people buying a product which profits $10 per sale will net that marketer a $2,000 payday.  You can make an offer to that list every month like clockwork.  But it takes time and effort to get there.

Your path might have you creating small money making websites.  Some new sites earn can earn a dollar a day right out of the gate.  Four quarters a day doesn’t sound like much but if you are building say three sites in a week (which is quite manageable), each month your income will grow by twelve dollars per day.  The cumulative affect of this is huge.  And once you get good at it, you tweak your sites until each one is earning $2, $5, $10 per day or more.

This is all easily achievable over time.  But you must be diligent and approach it like a business.

The list on the following page has techniques that are all over the place.  There are dozens of ways to earn money on the internet.  You must pick one and focus on it until it is profitable.  You’ll have a sense of the type of work involved from the description and you shouldn’t choose a method that goes against your nature.

If your a writer, you should have it made with blogging, content creation, writing ebooks, article marketing, etc.  But if your a numbers person, that stuff might just drive you nuts.  You might not even get started.  A more analytical mind might do better in pay per click marketing (PPC) with something like the Google AdSense program.

Whatever you do, don’t pick up one method, try it for a week, drop it and pick up another.  These methods are, right now, delivering full time income to thousands of people who have focused and properly implemented the techniques.

So, get your mindset right.  You won’t get rich overnight.  You will gradually improve your skills, your business and your income over time.  Pick one method, one technique and master it.  You will succeed.
